Within the short span of the past 2 years of insecurity and instability, COVID created a “shadow epidemic” and a backward slide in equality. Regardless of our cultural shifts, confidence levels, imposter syndrome, overwhelm, and uncertainty about our direction is at an all time high.

Top it off with balancing home life, child-care, elder-care, and let’s face it, even the dishes, and we’re left with a massive “to do” list and soaring stress levels.

Women and men want to be more, make our work, lives and impact more meaningful and more balanced. We are finally understanding the importance of our mental health and well being. We want to make a difference and have purpose in our homes, our workplaces, our communities.

Aspire Bold Leadership is not about taking a reckless cliff dive as you plummet helplessly towards the ground. It is about learning to fly, to take care of your responsibilities with resilience and hope for the future. It is about an inspired leap— because when you’re inspired, the fears disappear.

We are running Aspire Bold Leadership in an “Unconference” style, avoiding the traditional aspects of a conventional conference, no sponsored presentations, no advertising, unscripted and real interviews, and plenty of space for peer-to-peer learning, collaboration, and creativity.

What’s an Aspire Conference like?

Who’s it for?
Women, men, all genders, backgrounds, ages, and industries. From graduates to managers to executives and ages from 7 years old (our work experience program) to 70 years old, we affirm that diversity and inclusion creates innovative thinking, way more fun and ground breaking ideas.

Those attending can focus on their own personal, career or leadership development and/or they can bring their organizational development, HR, CSR, business and community projects to the event as a way to work on them during the conference.

Professor Mona Bafadhel, Chair Respiratory Medicine, King’s College London

‘Being a Wild Horse”

Mona Bafadhel is the Director of the new King’s Centre for Lung Health, and the Chair of Respiratory Medicine at King’s College London. She is also a consultant respiratory physician with a clinical and research interest in chronic obstructive lung disease and asthma. Mona is an international academic leader in respiratory medicine, with a passion for translating science to clinical practice to improve outcomes for patients. Her work in COVID-19 has translated to changing clinical practice affecting millions across the world. In 2018, Mona was awarded the Goulstonian Lectureship from the Royal College of Physicians for excellence in the Clinical Sciences. She is only the 4th woman and the 1st from an ethnic minority in the Royal College of Physician near 400 year history to have achieved this accolade.

Sarah Franklin, Managing Director at Motorsport Legal / Sarah Franklin Solicitors

Sarah has been a lawyer for 30 years, with her own practice for 15, specializing in family law and motorsport law. Sarah has been racing cars for 16 years achieving wins in many categories. Dame Irene Hays, Owner and Chair of Hays Travel

Dame Irene Hays is the owner and chair of the UK’s largest Independent Travel Agency. She was instrumental in the growth of the company and particularly in the acquisition of Bath Travel in 2013 and Thomas Cook in 2019. Awarded a CBE in 2008, she was made a Dame in the 2021 New Year’s Honors for her services to training, education and young people. She is a powerful advocate of the Hays Travel community and charitable activities and created the Hays Travel Charitable Foundation. Dame Irene has served on a number of boards and governing bodies, including the boards of Sport England, The Football Foundation, the Academy for Sustainable Communities and the Department for Education.

Sionice-Louise Phillips Vice President in Diversity, Equity and inclusion for Barclays UK

Sionice left school at the age of 15 and gained no qualifications due to being bullied for being transgender. After years of entertaining, she joined Barclays 14 years ago and has secured six promotions since joining, and most recent as a Vice President in Diversity Equity and Inclusion. Sionice is passionate about helping people learn that their own unique journey can be harnessed to progress their career, and that anything is possible with the right mindset. Sionice talks openly about her lived experience as a transgender woman both internally at Barclays and externally at various universities, charities and businesses to be a positive role model and to raise awareness of trans lives.

Egbe Manton, Corporate Lawyer and Founder, Manton Legal

Egbe Manton is an award winning lawyer who set up her own business and social enterprise in the middle of the first national lockdown. She also assists unemployed young graduates who are seeking a career in law to secure suitable law placements. Egbe is a highly skilled practitioner with experience of the private, public and NGO sectors. Dezita Taylor-Robinson, Associate Professor, Head of Department, Birmingham City University

“Courage is Contagious”

Dezita is Associate Professor- Head of Department for Pre-Qualifying Healthcare Practice at Birmingham City University. She is also a Registered Operating Department Practitioner with over 21 years’ experience within healthcare. Dezita has held several leadership roles and has gained professional credibility for creating meaningful change by being an authentic and forward-thinking leader. She is currently one of the only black female Associate Professors HoD  within her university. She continues to use her platforms alongside her roles as one of the first Council of Deans of Health Fellows and 150 Student Leader Mentor to empower others as well as striving for fair and equitable opportunities for all. Dezita has been presented with numerous awards including HEE Emerging Leader of the Year, AfPP Outstanding Contribution to Perioperative Education and, The BCU Deans Award.

Erika Eliasson-Norris, Founder & CEO, Beyond Governance

“The Road to Resilience”

Despite being one the UK’s youngest FTSE 250 board governance advisers, at the age of 32 and a successful female business owner, Erika did not travel a straight road to reach where she is today. Erika came from a low-income background and attended a school with much fewer resources and opportunities than most. Even though she always had the drive to succeed in life, she was often set back due to having to navigate challenging situations throughout her home life and studies, including severe health issues within her family. Erika persevered and is now the Founder and CEO of Beyond Governance, a multi-award-winning full-service governance consultancy and continues to achieve many accolades and awards giving credit to her constant hard work and determination.

Geraldine Wintour Aust, Management Consultant, Atkins, a member of the SNC-Lavalin Group

Geraldine is a management consultant with over 30 years’ experience. Working for SNC Lavalin- Atkins, a global engineering company, in transformation, change and engagement she specializes in leading high performing teams, leadership workshops, coaching and mentoring. Geraldine has a track record of leading change management, developing and implementing new innovative solutions as well as streamlining existing operations for maximum productivity and efficiency. Georgie Moseley, Harry’s Proud Mum and Founder Help Harry Help Others

“Making The Vision a Reality”

Georgie Moseley is a mum of three. Despite losing her son to cancer aged just 11, and her mum to mental health which led to suicide fifteen months after, Georgie made her son’s campaign, Help Harry Help Others, a registered Cancer charity. Through lived experience of cancer, she set out to fill the many gaps between hospital and hospice supporting the mental well-being of cancer patients and their loved ones. As such, she created and opened a unique drop-in cancer support centre which supports adults and children affected by any type of cancer from its home from home setting. Georgie has won awards to include Influential Woman of the Year, Pride of Birmingham and has run as Olympic torch bearer and more recently been a baton bearer in the Queens Baton relay at the Commonwealth Games.

Sue Whiterod & Emma Scott-Turner, Co-Founders, rocknplace

“Passionate Pioneers”

Emma and Sue, the co-founders of rocknplace. They bring a passion and drive to support some of the most vulnerable young men in society to achieve their potential. Emma works within challenging prison environments. Emma is a mentor for young adults in prison and the community, helping to build positive futures, preventing reoffending and recalls. Having studied alongside full-time caring, Emma has a proven determination to learn and an excellent work ethic. Sue enjoyed a long career in the NHS, working in human resources, people and organizational development, including as director. Sue is a volunteer mentor of youth offenders at Aylesbury prison, through Trailblazers Mentoring. She supports mentees in prison, through the gate and in the community.

Fatima Naimi, Co-Founder and Chair, Afghan Charity Week Association

“You Have the Power to Change Yourself and the World Around You”

Fatima Naimi is Co-Founder and Chair of the Afghan Charity Week Association, a student-led, charitable organization founded in 2019. She recently graduated with a BSc in Politics and International Relations from University College London. By day, she works as an Associate Recruitment Consultant at Storm 6, specialists in global EdTech recruitment, a start up who’s mission is to play an integral role in the digital education revolution. She is passionate about lifelong learning, making a difference to others’ lives, women and girls’ empowerment, traveling and her baby cat, Misu.

Joanna Maycock, Civil Society Leader and Feminist Activist

Why Feminist Leadership is the Key to Unlocking More Inclusive, Caring and Sustainable Futures

During more than 25 years’ experience in leadership positions in International Civil Society, Joanna has worked to develop and put into practice feminist leadership in a variety of roles and contexts, including coaching and mentoring other civil society leaders. She started by leading ActionAid International’s work in Europe to secure women’s rights globally and was the first woman President of CONCORD, the European Confederation of Development NGOs. Most recently, she was Secretary General for the European Women’s Lobby (EWL): the largest and most effective network of women’s organizations campaigning for a feminist Europe.

Petra has over 25 years in the Recruitment Sector and has worked in Leadership roles for the past 15 years. Currently leading a team of 100 individuals providing Workforce Solutions across a number of sectors. She is leader of the BRIGHT Affinity Network supporting the LGBTQi Community and Member of the DEIB Board. Passionate about inspiring and supporting the next generation of leaders and driving a culture of inclusivity, honesty & integrity. She is the proud Mum of two daughters aged 21 and 19 who are in the early stages of the World of Work.

Danielle Bridge, Chief Executive, ABC Life Support CIC

Danielle Bridge is an Award-Winning Founder and CEO of ABC Life Support CIC, a Social Enterprise First Aid Training organization that delivers physical and mental health first aid training across the UK.  She is the host of ‘It Is What It Is’ the Podcast as well as a speaker in the importance of psychoeducation and First Aid knowledge. Danielle has a passion for empowering people to learn a skill that could ultimately save a life and does so in a way which is accessible and inspiring. She strives for inclusion and excellence in her training delivery and at the same time, values her place as a Community Interest Company where she makes training accessible to all members of our society.


Sara Chapman, Executive Experience Strategy Director, adamandeveDDB

Sara works with her clients to help them understand and respond to new and emerging consumer behaviors. She’s led transformation projects for large global brands, worked as part of innovation teams to create and launch new products and worked within start-ups to re-imagine the world of content. Sara believes that successful leaders of change make their craft simple to understand, buzzword free, and actionable. She believes sustainable change can only happen when you get in trenches with your team and put people, not technology or process, at the heart of your change agenda.

Liz Mickel, Deputy Director of Supporter Operations, ActionAid UK

“Solving Imposter Syndrome With Feminist Leadership Behaviors”

Liz has worked in Fundraising for over 17 years, across several large charities; largely specializing in operational support. She is currently a Deputy Director in Fundraising at ActionAid UK, leading the Supporter Operations Team and the CRM Program, the largest technical project that the charity has undertaken. ActionAid has been changing the world with women and girls for 50 years and has adopted a feminist leadership framework across all areas of their business. Her session will explore how the cultural feminist framework, that includes areas such as self care & caring for others, as well as courage supports solving the issue of imposter syndrome, and how the benefits reach beyond her own organization to inspire others.

Jo Offer, Artist, Academic and Social Entrepreneur

Jo is a multi-disciplinary artist, academic and social entrepreneur based in Brighton, UK. A keen collaborator, she works alongside organizations, creatives and researchers who are taking action to address inequalities and social barriers. Social Art Space was founded as a practical response to the urgent need for interdisciplinary approaches to tackle global challenges, which is reflected by the U.N’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals. In addition, she is Lecturer in MA Inclusive Arts Practice, University of Brighton and founding director of an inclusive arts studio for neurodivergent artists and those with learning disabilities.
